Canada update May 2026

 

First of all, thank you so much for supporting KAKAO. It truly means more than you know.

We have recently ended our partnership with the previous Canada fulfillment team in Ontario due to a lack of alignment in core values and standards of excellence. While this was a very difficult decision and impacts our incredible Canadian community, I am confident it is the right one for the long-term future of KAKAO and the customer experience we are committed to providing.

As the Founder of this non-profit organization, and someone who genuinely cares deeply about your experience from start to finish, I felt it was important to make this change immediately, and to trust that a better long-term solution will emerge in divine timing.

 

What this means for Canada orders:

For now, all Canadian orders can be placed through the USA site.

Orders are currently being shipped daily Monday–Friday from our incredible team in Michigan. At this time, we are offering USPS (which includes all duties/fees) or UPS Standard. UPS is known for its reliability and fast service, however please note they will bill the customer for the brokerage fee & duties prior to delivery. 

 

Product pricing and Free Shipping:

Product pricing is lower in the USA, so this in itself already provides savings. We are offering free UPS shipping for 5 LBS or more, to offset potential duties billed after the fact. If you would like to avoid additional fees being billed upon delivery, please select USPS at checkout.

 

Duties & Additional Fees:

Based on what we have seen so far, USPS is best for smaller orders because it includes all duties & taxes. For UPS, they are currently charging approximately $68 CAD per order, whether the order was for a small bag or big bag. UPS is emailing customers directly prior to final delivery to collect these charges.

While we understand this is not ideal or convenient, we are happy to report that the total cost (including the additional duties) is nearly equal to what you would have paid in Canada.

I also want to sincerely thank our Canadian customers for your willingness to navigate these temporary customs fees during this transition. Your continued support and belief in this product truly mean the world to us.

 

Moving Forward:

We are actively exploring options and hope to have a much smoother long-term system in place in the near future.

Until then, you can continue ordering from the USA site with confidence, knowing that the overall cost remains comparable to before.
